Peoria Lake is a 4,010-acre man-made lake in Peoria County, Illinois, located in the central part of the state. It was created by the damming of the Illinois River in 1913. The lake is approximately 10 miles long and features several islands and channels that are popular for fishing, boating, and other recreational activities. The lake is home to a wide variety of fish species, including largemouth and smallmouth bass, walleye, crappie, and catfish. The lake is an important source of drinking water for the city of Peoria and surrounding communities.
